Polio Outbreaks Continue in Africa
The U.S. CDC recommended on August 4, 2020, that all travelers to these African countries be vaccinated fully against polio. And, before traveling to these countries, adults who completed their routine polio vaccine series as children should receive a single, lifetime adult booster dose of polio vaccine.
The CDC recommends administering an inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) booster dose, which has been the only polio vaccine offered in the USA since 2000. There are various IPV vaccines available in the USA, such as Kinrix and Pediarix.
