2nd COVID-19 Boosters Available in Saudi Arabia

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health today announced the start of offering the second COVID-19 vaccine booster dose to the people aged 50 years and over who have completed eight months since receiving their first booster dose.

And the Saudi Government has approved certain COVID-19 vaccines when visiting The Kingdom. ​​

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated on April 9, 2022, that to perform Hajj, pilgrims must have proof that they have received COVID-19 vaccinations approved by the Saudi Ministry of Health, and a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, taken within 72 hours of the time of departure to Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, Hajj and Umrah 2022 vaccination requirements include yellow fever, meningococcal meningitis, polio, and an annual flu shot.

According to the Saudi Press, booking vaccination appointments is available through the Sehhaty app.

Separately, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah fined ten Umrah companies $13,000 (Fifty thousand riyals) each on April 26, 2022, for failing to provide adequate services to pilgrims.

The companies were fined for negligence, breach of duties, and failure to fulfill their obligations to pilgrims regarding transportation and housing.

According to the ministry, all pilgrims – whether traveling from outside or within the Kingdom – must use licensed Umrah service providers to guarantee their rights, reported the Arab News.
