American’s Travel App Helps Flyers Enter the USA

American Airlines is the first U.S. airline to introduce an easy way to provide results from a negative COVID-19 test and other completed documents required for international travel.
American’s mobile health passport VeriFLY app helps customers understand and verify their travel requirements, which will be available for travelers starting January 23, 2021, for travel from all international destinations to the USA.
American’s customers have already used VeriFLY when visiting several countries, including Jamaica, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. To date, thousands of American Airlines customers have traveled using the app, stated American.
American stated in a press release issued on January 14th; it is expanding access to the app to support the U.S. government’s requirement that all passengers two years of age and older traveling to the United States from any international location test negative for COVID-19 within three calendar days of departure.
“We’re expanding our work with VeriFLY to quickly evolve our usage of the app and make international travel easier for our customers,” stated Julie Rath, Vice President of Customer Experience at Dallas-based American.
“We support the implementation of a global program to require COVID-19 testing for travelers to the USA, and we want to do everything we can to make travel a seamless experience for customers. We’ve received positive feedback about the app so far and look forward to more customers having the opportunity to use it.”
Using the VeriFLY app is simple. After downloading the app, customers create an account, enter their destination, and upload required documentation such as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
Customers are encouraged to review travel requirements to their destination, including any passport or point of origin restrictions. Visit aa.com to learn more about VeriFLY and the airline’s preflight testing program.
VeriFLY is developed and managed by the biometric authentication and identity assurance solutions provider, Daon. According to Daon, VeriFLY offers travelers a secure and straightforward way to confirm their destination’s COVID-19 requirements.
After creating a secure profile on the VeriFLY app, Daon verifies that the customer’s data matches a country’s requirements and displays a simple pass or fail message. This simple message streamlines the check-in and document verification process at the airport before departure.
The app also provides travelers with reminders when their travel window is coming close or once their credential has expired.
